If Chris Jones decides to sit out in 2020, KC Chiefs fans shouldn’t be mad at all. He can do whatever he wants!

*THIS ARTICLE WAS WRITTEN WITH THE HELP OF A SCREENREADER*

When I was a rookie NFL fan and I heard about a player holding out and refusing to play if he didn’t receive his money, I often made comments about spoiled millionaires refusing to play unless they got paid even more.

You can blast me in the comments section for this nearsighted way of thinking and I would have deserved it. I have changed my tune in recent years after learning just how much NFL athletes go through to play their sport and the small window of time in which they have to make their money.

For this reason and several others, the Kansas City Chiefs need to do the right thing and pay defensive lineman Chris Jones before he sits out or finds another team that will pay him his money. I am here to say, I wouldn’t blame him for either action.

I want it known that as I write this piece after the news that Patrick Mahomes has received a ten-year extension worth $503 million, so I am aware that that puts the Chiefs in a much more precarious financial position than they were previously, but I shall plow forward anyway and stick to my guns.
