Kansas City Royals who could make debuts – Number 6: Jackson Kowar

Jackson Kowar was the second pitcher taken two years ago and falls into the same category as Daniel Lynch. He has a chance to make it to the majors for sure and there’s a chance he could sneak into the rotation if injuries occur.

Kowar pitched at Florida in college and it was fun watching him start for the Gators in the College World Series two years ago. Kowar has been doing well in the minors and threw 74.1 innings for Northwest Arkansas and finished the season with a 3.87 ERA.

Even though Kowar is hopefully going to be a big part of the Royals’ future, if he makes it to the bigs this year, he might not get as much playing time as fans would hope for.

Kansas City Royals who could make debuts – Number 5: Brady Singer

The first of five college pitchers taken in 2018 was Brady Singer out of Florida. He and Kowar were teammates and the Royals took them both with their first two picks that year.

Singer is the Royals’ second best prospect and there’s been a lot of clamoring for him to win the fifth spot in the rotation. Why not at this point honestly? It’s a short season and it’d be a good chance for him to pitch meaningful innings.

Singer made it to Northwest Arkansas last season and finished with a 3.47 ERA through 90.2 innings. It’ll be interesting to see when the Royals opt to bring him up (assuming they do), but he’s definitely in their future plans and this could be the best season to give him some valuable innings.
