Bold Predictions for KC Chiefs – Number 3: Mahomes breaks Manning’s single-season passing yards record
I honestly don’t know if you can really have a bold prediction for Patrick Mahomes anymore. He’s in a league of his own and does something impossible on a weekly basis, but for this is still a very impressive record that will be tough to break, so for now it’s a bold prediction.
The mark to beat is 5,477 and it seems like a tall task, but let’s not forget that in his FIRST season as a starter, Mahomes passed for 5,097 yards. That’s just one more 24-yard completion per game for Mahomes which is not at all a tall task for Mahomes.
KC Kingdom’s own Joel Wagler actually wrote about Mahomes and Manning’s early career accomplishments and it really brings to light how good of a path Mahomes is on. He’s already won a Super Bowl (much quicker than The Sheriff himself did) and has set the NFL world on fire.
If Mahomes can stay healthy for a full 16 game season this year, Manning’s record is not at all safe. Also, a little side note, if Mahomes breaks the single-season passing yards record, he will probably grab his second MVP trophy too, so you might as well just chalk that in.
This might not seem too bold, but for Mahomes to be on the verge of doing so just four years into his career is insane.
