Bold Predictions for KC Chiefs – Number 4: Clark and Jones combine for 24 sacks

In order for the aforementioned bold prediction to happen, Frank Clark and Chris Jones have to play well not just in the sack category, but against the run as well. We will focus on sacks though since they are “Sack Nation” after all.

Twenty-four sacks might seem a little steep, but both players have reached 12+ sacks in their career and they combined for 17 last year and did so despite missing five combined games. If they can both string together 16 games, the sack numbers should rise, especially if they can have 16 near full health games each.

Jones dealt with nagging groin and calf injuries and Clark played through a nerve injury the whole first half of the season before missing two games due to sickness. Clark came out of his two-game absence looking healthy and on a mission and finished the season with 10 sacks in his last 10 games including the playoffs.

That is the Frank Clark I am expecting in Kansas City next year and if Chris Jones is playing on the franchise tag, he will be hungry for a good season to prove once again that he deserves a long-term deal. Around 12 sacks each for the two of them seems more than achievable.

Let’s not forget that Jones and Dee Ford combined for 28.5 in 2018 and I am still a firm believer in Clark being an upgrade over Ford, so book it 24 combined sacks next season for Jones and Clark.
