Reasons KC Chiefs shouldn’t fear Broncos in 2020 – Number 1: Pressure on Lock

A lot of analysts have been quick to crown Drew Lock as the next big thing in the NFL (looking at you, Cowherd), but can we cool the jets? Lock only made five starts last season, throwing for 1,020 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions.

The numbers are fine, but for people to not think Lock is going to regress at all is a pipe dream. Teams have now had a chance to gather enough film on Lock and should be able to slow him down a lot more in 2020.

When the Chiefs faced Lock in week 14, it was his worst performance of his five starts and the only game in which he didn’t throw for a touchdown. Lock went just 18 of 40 for 208 yards and a pick in that game, but it is worth noting that it was snowing heavily in that match-up. Still, the Chiefs had no problem putting up points, winning it 23-3.

I know Lock is popular around Kansas City due to playing his college ball at Missouri, but the truth is that he’s getting very overhyped this season and a lot is riding on him in 2020. If he regresses at all, the Broncos are going to have a tough time winning games.
