Kansas City Chiefs who could revive career – Number 3: Breeland Speaks

After being the Chiefs’ second round selection in 2018, Breeland Speaks didn’t really stand out much as a rookie. He was most remembered for failing to bring down Tom Brady when the Chiefs played the Patriots and as a result, Brady was able to stroll into the end zone.

Speaks didn’t play at all in 2019 due to injury, so even though 2020 will be his third year as an NFL player, it’ll really only be his sophomore season. Speaks struggled to find his groove as a rookie, but that was when Bob Sutton was still the defensive coordinator.

With Steve Spagnuolo now serving as the defensive coordinator, he’ll be able to bring out Speaks’ potential, just like he did with Tanoh Kpassagnon last season. Kpassagnon had been in a similar role as Speaks, being a second rounder in 2017 and not living up to the hype through years one and two. Now it’s Speaks’ turn to try and turn things around.

There’s definitely talent there with Speaks and fans were excited to see what he could do after he was the team’s second round pick two years ago. Hopefully 2020 is the year he revives what’s been a very lackluster career to this point.
