Kansas City Royals: Getting to know undrafted free agent signings
By Cody Rickman
On the first day of the undrafted free agent signing period, the Kansas City Royals signed six talented undrafted free agents to contracts.
The undrafted free agent signing period opened Sunday morning and the Kansas City Royals remained quiet for most of the day, which led some to assume all of the outstanding publicity the Royals organization generated recently was not being considered by some of the more talented undrafted free agents available.
These concerns quickly came to a halt when the Royals ended the day with the most signed undrafted prospects on Baseball America 500 draft prospects (subscription required).
The Royals landed five players in the top 500 on Baseball America’s list. The Royals also added a sixth player who landed on Baseball America’s top undrafted seniors list (subscription required).
As of Monday morning, the Royals have signed the following prospects:
- Saul Garza, C/DH, Louisiana State
- Kale Emshoff, C, Arkansas-Little Rock
- John McMillon, RHP, Texas Tech
- A.J. Block, LHP, Washington State
- Tucker Bradley, OF, Georgia
- Chase Wallace, RHP, Tennessee
Let’s take a look at each of the recent undrafted free agent signings for the Royals.
