Kansas City Chiefs entering make or break season in 2020
No player on this list might be more frustrating than Demarcus Robinson. On paper, Robinson has all the qualities fans look for in a star. He’s long, athletic, has quality hands, and is very good after the catch.
Last season, it felt like once a week that he’d make an impressive leaping grab or catch the ball underneath and dance his way to a first down. Robinson has all the tools to be great, if he’d just show up more.
Robinson had 32 receptions for 449 yards and four touchdowns in 2019. That might sound like decent numbers from a guy who is basically the fifth receiving option in an offense. Unfortunately, of those numbers, nine of those catches were for 215 yards and three of those touchdowns came within a two-week stretch.
With Tyreek Hill and Sammy Watkins both missing multiple games last season, Robinson had all the chances in the world to deliver, but rarely did. As I mentioned earlier, it appears that 2020 will be Watkins’ last year with Chiefs and the front office would probably rather promote from within rather than use another high draft pick on a receiver.
At only 25 years old, Demarcus Robinson’s size and athleticism make him the perfect replacement for Watkins, but he’ll need to prove this year he’s more than potential or he could end up playing elsewhere in 2021.
