Chiefs news includes ESPN listing the Kansas City Chiefs with the highest odds of winning Super Bowl LV per their Football Power Index.

Kansas City Chiefs fans are still reeling from their team winning Super Bowl LIV and it only makes sense that not only Chiefs fans – but most football fans as well – would consider the Chiefs the favorites to win this season’s Super Bowl.

ESPN released their Football Power Index, which is a prediction model for how the 2020 season could go, taking into consideration numerous different things.

"Preseason ratings are based on each team’s Las Vegas win total; last season’s performance on offense, defense and special teams; the number of returning starters; coaching staff changes; and starting and backup quarterbacks."

It didn’t appear to be particularly close for runner-up with the Chiefs being a whole point better than the next best team, that being the Ravens. The reigning Super Bowl champ being favored to win the Super Bowl the next year is never shocking, but what is shocking here is how much the Chiefs are favorites over the rest.

The Chiefs were just that good in 2019. The Ravens might have had the better record and finished the year as the number one seed in the playoffs, but when push came to shove, Kansas City was the better of the two.

"ESPN’s FPI predicts the Chiefs will win 11.2 games (top overall mark) and have a 94 percent chance of making the playoffs. After years in which making the postseason was the goal and fans would root for a chance to punch a playoff card, it feels surreal to see the Chiefs given such confidence to step into the postseason, like it’s an automatic berth. Such is life after winning it all."

With the Patriots losing their quarterback of the last two decades, that’s one less team who could challenge Kansas City in the AFC. It should come down to the Chiefs and the Ravens and the two will face off in week three on Monday Night Football.

With such an impressive 2019 season that ended with a Super Bowl title, it’s no wonder the Kansas City Chiefs are the heavy favorites. They’ll have a giant target on their back and they have an absolutely brutal stretch after their bye week, but there certainly isn’t any reason not to believe the Chiefs can’t repeat in 2020.
