Chiefs news revolves around how quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave the commencement speech to the Texas Tech graduating class. “Go out and win your Super Bowl” Mahomes said to the graduates.

Before Patrick Mahomes was winning Super Bowls and MVP titles for the Kansas City Chiefs, he was a gunslinging quarterback at Texas Tech University. He’s still praised at his alma mater and was chosen to give the commencement speech to the 2020 graduating class.

Obviously things are pretty crazy in the world right now and – as a result – graduations can’t take place in person. Most have gone virtual or were rescheduled for later in the summer (assuming things improve by then).

That didn’t stop KC Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes from giving the Class of 2020 a speech to motivate the heck out of them.

"“Remember, this is a day to celebrate, to look back on the friends you made, the professors who have changed your life and the memories that you will cherish forever. Whatever plans lie in front of you, I have no doubt you will go out there and show the world what it means to come from Lubbock, Texas. Go out and win your Super Bowl. Congrats, Class of 2020. I can’t wait to see what you do next.”"

Mahomes’ words applies to graduates – and even people – everywhere. No one anticipated things would be like this, but all we can do is keep working hard to accomplish our goals.

Patrick Mahomes was a sensational player for Texas Tech during his time there and that paved the way for him to be a Super Bowl and MVP winning quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. This was the perfect time to have Mahomes speak to his alma mater because A) He’s the reigning Super Bowl MVP and B) This is a strange time for everyone and this is a chance to remind these grads of a true life lesson.

Mahomes’ words ring true for all of us and hopefully the class of 2020 can take these words to heart and do good in the world.
