The 2020 NFL regular season is set to be released on Thursday and with that, the road to repeating as Super Bowl champs begins for the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s take a guess at what games will be featured in primetime.

Last week, I discussed five Kansas City Chiefs game that deserved to be in primetime in 2020. Now, I’ll take a stab at which games actually WILL land in primetime and which outlet they’ll be aired on.

There are three primetime spots in the NFL: Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, and Monday Night Football. There’s also the late afternoon game on Sunday, but even though it’s usually the best game of the week and seen by the majority of the country, it’s still not technically primetime.

As the reigning Super Bowl champs, the Chiefs will no doubt have their fair share of primetime games in 2020, but let’s take a look at which games could land where. These don’t necessarily have to be the best games, but rather, they fall in line with the way the NFL likes to schedule things.

CHIEFS VS TEXANS – SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (2020 SEASON OPENER)

Out of all of the match-ups the Chiefs have on their 2020 schedule, their head-to-head against the Texans is one that appears a lock to land on Sunday Night Football. Even though it’d technically be the Sunday night crew, I’d be shocked if this wasn’t the game opening up the 2020 season at Arrowhead, which would actually have it landing on a Thursday night.

On their way to the Super Bowl, the Chiefs hosted the Texans in the AFC Divisional Round and were getting their butts whooped. Then, however, they turned things around and started whooping the Texans’ butts, blowing them out and moving onto the title game.

If looking back to that epic game isn’t good enough for you (and for Texans fans, I’m sure they want nothing more than to forget about that game), then Patrick Mahomes vs Deshaun Watson is another reason for the best crew to cover this game. They’re two of the brightest young quarterbacks in the game and that alone should land this game on Sunday Night Football (even if it’s on a Thursday).
