Another member of Mizzou football is off the board and he’s headed to the Denver Broncos. Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam (or Albert O as many call him) is joining college teammate Drew Lock in the Mile High City.

The Missouri Tigers have their second player off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft with Jordan Elliott going to Cleveland in round three and Albert Okwuegbunam now heading to Denver. For fans of Missouri who also root for the Kansas City Chiefs, they might not be fond of this destination for Albert O.

Albert O is joining Drew Lock in Denver, as the Broncos look to turn around their offensive woes and try to keep with the Chiefs in the AFC West. They’ve made it a point to add offensive weapons this draft in hopes of putting on an offensive show these next few years.

Albert O going in the fourth round wasn’t shocking, as he’s talented, but Day 3 was a good landing spot for him. He only had 306 yards and six touchdowns last year, but the Missouri offense wasn’t as good as they were when Lock was there. Albert O had recorded 11 touchdowns as a freshman in 2017, but never had more than 466 yards during his three years in college.

Even though the stats aren’t eye popping, this kid is going to do well in the pros and now he has his college quarterback chucking the ball to him in Denver.

The Broncos do have Noah Fant already, so Albert O won’t be a starter, but make no mistake, he’ll be a red zone target in Denver. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s able to get the targets he could get with other teams in Denver with all of those other weapons.

At this point, Missouri still has a few other names waiting to hear their names called with the biggest name being Kelly Bryant. They also have a few more offensive linemen who are waiting to get selected as well, so even though the two most likely to be drafted are off the board, there are still others to keep an eye on.

So Mizzou fans – Are you okay with Albert O heading to Denver or – if you’re also a Chiefs fan – is this something you’d rather not have happened?
