Mizzou Football: Jordan Elliott can flourish in Browns defense
The first Mizzou football player is off the board and it’s Jordan Elliott, who is headed to Cleveland after getting selected 88th overall by the Browns.
The Missouri Tigers have their first drafted player of the 2020 NFL Draft with Jordan Elliott going in the third round (88th overall) to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns had also selected Jedrick Wills in round one and Grant Delpit in round two, so they’re clearly all about those SEC players.
Elliott was the best Mizzou player in this draft and should have the best career out of his fellow Tiger teammates. The Browns are a good spot for him too, as he should be able to contribute – at the very least – as a rotational player as a rookie.
It might take some time for Elliott to truly become the player he can eventually become, but Cleveland landed a nice player and it’s good to see one of our own get drafted and live out his NFL dream.

The Browns had a lot of hype heading into the 2019 season and were crowned Super Bowl champions after free agency, but they fell off pretty quickly. They won just six games and finished out the 2010s without notching a single season.
Elliott can only do so much, being a defensive player and all, but he provides nice depth for Cleveland on defense. Originally a Texas Longhorn, Elliott joined the Tigers for the final two years of his collegiate career and played well.
The Draft Network notes that,
"I don’t expect much from Elliott early in his career, but he has the traits needed to find work as a two-gapping five-technique in a 3-4 front that also provides some interior pass rush ability."
As Joe Marino mentioned above, Elliott might need some fine tuning early on, but he has the ability to be a nice player in perhaps year two or three. The Browns just need to be patient with him and allow him to develop.
MU still has several players waiting to hear their names called including Albert O and Kelly Bryant, but at least they’re on the board now with Elliott getting selected in round three. Who will be next?
Hopefully Jordan Elliott has a long career in the NFL and if he can help the Browns get to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years, that’d be great!
Best of luck to Jordan Elliott!
