The NFL draft starts tonight, and it is shaping up to be one of the most bizarre and and anticipated drafts of all time. We don’t know what the KC Chiefs are planning, but what about the other three teams in the AFC West?

Despite all of the wackiness and uncertainty surrounding the virtual draft this year, the pressure for teams to nail their first round picks is as high as ever. That is doubly true for the teams in the AFC West. The Broncos, Raiders and Chargers are all looking up at the defending champs and playing catch up, while the Kansas City Chiefs are focused on sustaining its success on top of the NFL world.

The fact of the matter is, winning your divisional games is super important in the NFL You have to play those opponents multiple times a year.  As the New England Patriots have proved, it can sometimes be hard to topple a juggernaut in your division when they have a Hall of Fame head coach and a generational talent at quarterback.

The Dolphins, Jets, and Bills spent the better part of two decades trying to dethrone the Patriots. They got close to doing this a few times, but no team was able to actually knock down the King of the East.

The Chiefs may very well be poised to make that same sort of run. They have already won four straight division titles, with only two having Patrick Mahomes under center.

That is why it is important for the other AFC West teams to nail their upcoming drafts. One bad draft can reset all the progress these teams made, so they can not afford to screw it up. So let’s have a little fun and go into enemy territory, and take a look at what positions each AFC West team should focus on in the draft in order to try and catch the Kansas City Chiefs.
