Chiefs news brings us the newest member of the Kansas City Chiefs and it’s Clyde Edwards-Helaire out of LSU. The Chiefs took a running back at pick 32 and he’ll look to revamp the position in KC.

Well, if there’s a spot to take a running back in the first round, it’s near the end and the Kansas City Chiefs drafted one at pick 32. Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the choice, over higher rated guys like D’Andre Swift, J.K. Dobbins, and Jonathan Taylor.

While this pick might have been a bit surprising, Edwards-Helaire is going to make this Chiefs offense damn near unstoppable. He’s coming off a National Championship while the Chiefs are coming off a Super Bowl and that makes them a match made in heaven.

The LSU Tiger rushed for 1,414 yards and 16 touchdowns during the 2019 season. He also made some noise in the receiving game, grabbing 55 receptions for 453 yards and a touchdown and we all know how much Andy Reid loves running backs who can catch the football.

People might hate on this pick due to the running back position being one that can be addressed later on, but Clyde Edwards-Helaire can step in and be an IMMEDIATE upgrade at the running back spot.

No disrespect to Damien Williams, but injuries and inconsistencies took their toll on him throughout the regular season and the backups didn’t leave much to be desired either. Edwards-Helaire brings in that burst that the Chiefs could use in the run game and now the run game should be able to match what the passing game has been able to do the past two years.

Realistically, it would have been nice to see Kansas City go with a defensive player, but they were in a good position for this draft. They really were able to take just about whoever they wanted due to Brett Veach bringing back a lot of last year’s Super Bowl winning roster.

If the KC Chiefs’ offense wasn’t scary enough when they didn’t have a run game, just imagine how lethal they’ll be now that they have one of the best running backs in this year’s draft.

Buckle up, Chiefs Kingdom. This is going to be fun. Oh and there are still at least four picks to go on Friday and Saturday, so settle in and enjoy.

What do you think of this selection, Chiefs fans? Yay or nay? Who else would you like to have seen taken here?
