The KC Chiefs could use another running back and the 2020 NFL Draft is where they could find one. Here are some running backs that would be awesome additions to the Chiefs backfield.

The running back position isn’t looked at in the draft the same way it once was. Seldom do running backs get drafted early on these days because quite frankly, you can find close to the same value in the later rounds or even after the draft has concluded.

That being said, the Kansas City Chiefs have the final pick of the first round and it wouldn’t be nearly as asinine to draft a running back at pick 32 as it would earlier on in the round.

The Chiefs have a crowded backfield at the moment, which consists of Damien Williams, Darrel Williams, Darwin Thompson, and DeAndre Washington. Damien had a rollercoaster regular season for the Chiefs, but turned on the jets in the playoffs. He very well could have been the MVP of Super Bowl LIV.

Darrel was an undrafted back out of LSU (proving once again that undrafted running backs can do well at the pro level) and has battled injuries during his two years in KC. Thompson was a sixth round draft choice out of Utah State who underwhelmed in limited opportunities. Washington was added as a free agent last week and is a nice depth piece.

With all of these backs plus Elijah McGuire and Mike Weber – both of whom are listed on the Chiefs roster – there’s a strong case to be made that the Chiefs don’t need to address running back in the draft. While many will feel that way, there are definitely players who are intriguing and could make the Chiefs offense unfair in 2020 and beyond.

So, who’s on my Kansas City Chiefs wish list at the running back spot? Let’s take a looky loo.
