2020 NFL Draft: KC Kingdom Mock Draft

Round 1: Pick 25 – Minnesota Vikings (John McCarty)

Jaylon Johnson. 25. player. 60. . Cornerback. Minnesota Vikings

The question isn’t who left the Vikings this ofseason, but rather who is still there. Mike Hughes is still around, but that’s about it. Enter Jaylon Johnson, who lacks a high ceiling, but possesses a high floor and can contribute as a cover corner in the upper midwest.

Staff Reaction: The Vikings need a corner, but this feels like a reach. A.J. Terrell is still on the board and would have been a better pick here, but Minnesota adds to their secondary, which is a priority for them. – Leigh Oleszczak

Round 1: Pick 26 – Miami Dolphins (Via Houston) (Kole Berrey)

. Safety. Miami Dolphins. Xavier McKinney. 26. player. 59

Much like I gave the Dolphins Becton to fill the hole left by trading Tunsil, I give them Xavier McKinney here to fill the hole left by trading Minkah Fitzpatrick last season.

This may seem like a lateral move for the franchise, but they now get two cost controlled replacements while also have a quarterback on a rookie contract. McKinney might be the best safety in the draft, and the Dolphins get him near the end of round one.

Staff Reaction: The Dolphins are having a really good draft, and McKinney is a solid addition to round out the first round. Versatile and quick, McKinney provides the Dolphins with a solid defender on a quickly rebuilt defense in Miami, helping to fill the void created with the departure of Sean Jones. – John McCarty

Round 1: Pick 27 – Seattle Seahawks (Cullen Jekel)

EDGE. Seattle Seahawks. A.J. Epenesa. 27. player. 36.

Seattle needs major help rushing the passer, and luckily, Iowa’s A.J. Epenesa, who collected 11.5 sacks as a junior last season, is still available. No over-thinking here: selecting the 6’5″, 275-pound Edge rusher is the best decision this late in the first round.

Staff Reaction: This seems like a very Seattle pick. Epenesa is a pass rusher right in Pete Carroll’s wheel house, and could help fill the void left by Frank Clark‘s departure last off season. Last year, the Seahawks took L.J. Collier to try to fill that void. This year, it is A.J.’s turn. – Kole Berrey

Round 1: Pick 28 – Baltimore Ravens (Leigh Oleszczak)

26. . Linebacker. Baltimore Ravens. Kenneth Murray. 28. player

The Ravens – much like the Saints – don’t have a lot of weaknesses on a roster that went 14-2 a season ago and took the league by storm. If they do want to upgrade anywhere, it’s on defense at the linebacker spot, so they go with Kenneth Murray to help out there. He’ll be a great addition to a defense that could use a few new quality players..

Staff Reaction: This seems like one of the best fits of the first round: the hard-hitting Kenneth Murray joining the Ravens, a team that’s usually known more for its smothering defense than its dynamic offense. Murray’s going to step in right away as Baltimore looks to get over the hump in 2020. – Cullen Jekel
