The Kansas City Chiefs are fresh off a Super Bowl win, which I think we can all agree is still surreal. Hell, It is April and I am still leading off by mentioning the fact.

I still watch the Mic’d Up from the Super Bowl every few weeks or so, and I get the chills every time. That being said, with the frenzy of free agency in the rear view mirror and the draft fast approaching, the Kansas City Chiefs are already in full title defense mode.

The interesting thing about the Chiefs is that general manager Brett Veach has never made a first round selection. The Mahomes and Frank Clark trades have involved the Chiefs first round selections over the past three years.

Drafting at 32 is great because it means your team just won the Super Bowl, but it also comes with its own challenges. Obviously, a lot of top end talent is gone by the time pick 32 is up. That leaves the Chiefs with the option to get creative in order to find talent.

The Chiefs could make this article irrelevant by the time the draft rolls around, because Brett Veach could decide to deal this pick for an established player like he did last year when the team traded for Frank Clark.

Considering the way the Chiefs are with their salary cap right now, however, I don’t see that happening again this year. Kansas City is returning a very strong nucleus of players, so the team needs to find ways to add cheap impact players to the roster. The draft is the perfect place to do just that.

Let’s look at the best scenarios for the KC Chiefs regarding their first round pick.
