KC Chiefs News: Six Chiefs make NFL’s All-Decade team
KC Chiefs news includes the NFL releasing its All-Decade team for the 2010s. Six Kansas City Chiefs players – past and present – made it onto the list.
The Kansas City Chiefs had a nice decade in the 2010s despite the rough patch to start. They made the playoffs in 2010 and had losing seasons in both 2011 and 2012 with the 2012 season being the worst in franchise history and netting them the first overall pick.
Once Andy Reid came to town, everything changed for the better in Kansas City. The Chiefs have had a winning season ever since and it’s no wonder that they’d have six total players make it onto the NFL’s All-Decade team.
Three of the six are on the Chiefs current roster heading into 2020 while the other three were previously on their roster in years past. The six are:
- Travis Kelce at tight end
- Tyreek Hill at punt returner
- Tyrann Mathieu at defensive back
- LeSean McCoy at running back
- Eric Berry at safety
- Darrelle Revis at cornerback
Kelce, Hill, and Berry earned their spots on the list due to their time spent with the Chiefs while the other three were mostly known for their careers elsewhere. Mathieu did have a huge season in 2019, however, and helped turn the Chiefs defense around enough to help win a Super Bowl.
McCoy was supposed to be a big addition to the 2019 offense, but he flamed out in Kansas City and didn’t even play in the postseason. Revis was only in Kansas City for a cup of coffee and was washed up by the time he landed with the Chiefs, but he was one of the best corners in the game during his prime. Receivers who went up against him were said to be stranded on “Revis Island”.

"The best news of all for fans: The majority of players on the All-Decade Team are still active heading into the 2020 season."
Seeing Kelce, Hill, and Mathieu – all of whom are part of the KC Chiefs’ core heading into the 2020 season – make this list along with long-time Chief Eric Berry is pretty cool. The Chiefs didn’t used to be a super relevant team and were very inconsistent.
A pattern with the Chiefs players who made this list is that they were all apart of Andy Reid’s Chiefs teams (though yes, Berry was drafted in 2010). He’s been the clear difference in Kansas City and hopefully keeps this team relevant for years to come.
