KC Chiefs: Oklahoma Sooner prospects to target in 2020 NFL Draft
Neville Gallimore (Defensive End)
Neville Gallimore (known to OU fans as Canadian Bacon) was one of the few dominant forces in an otherwise bleak Oklahoma defense.
Gallimore’s best season was in 2018 where he logged 50 tackles and three sacks. He is a better than average defensive tackle, but to be perfectly honest, between Chris Jones, Khalen Saunders, Mike Pennel and Derrick Nnadi, the Chiefs defensive line is pretty stacked, so the need might not really be there.
I doubt that a better than average defensive tackle would see much playing time and might struggle to fight for a spot. That is not the type of projection a team wants to spend a first round pick on.
If Gallimore were to fall to the fourth round and below, then he would be a steal for the Chiefs, but spending that first round pick, I’m afraid not. He did – however – make Leigh Oleszczak’s mock draft that had the Chiefs fixating on the defensive side of the ball and would fit right in, but first round picks typically should be spent on someone who is going to play early on in their career.
If Gallimore somehow were to drop to Day of the draft, however, then the Chiefs should most definitely consider spending a pick on him.
