KC Chiefs news consists of how the Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to deals with players who were on the Super Bowl LIV winning squad.

It’s always nice to have familiarity on the roster and with the Kansas City Chiefs being the reigning Super Bowl champions, attempting to re-sign some of the players who helped them win a title was important this offseason.

So far, the Chiefs have signed six free agents and three of those players were on the team in 2019. Those guys are Mike Pennel, Demarcus Robinson, and Anthony Sherman, who all agreed on one-year deals with the team they spent 2019 with.

Pennel was the biggest get, as his presence helped the run defense immensely. A one-year deal for a soon-to-be 29 year old is a good investment for a team hoping to defend their title and Pennel will have another chance to hit the market again next year.

Sherman was re-signed the same time Pennel was and while he’s not as exciting of an addition, he’s been with the team since 2013 and helps with run blocking.

Robinson coming back was likely due to him not getting the attention on the free agent market as many thought he’d get, but for whatever reason, he’s back in Kansas City for another year and will look to build on his stats so that he can get a better contract next year.

"This is now a Super Bowl winning team and that means it is being ran by a Super Bowl winning front office. We should trust Brett Veach and the team’s plan. No longer are the Chiefs the team trying to catch everyone else in the league; Now the rest of the league is trying to catch the Chiefs. The rules have changed a bit, and the Chiefs do not need to make big splash after big splash."

The Chiefs have signed six free agents total and three of them helped the team win their first Super Bowl in five decades. While Robinson and Sherman aren’t superstars, they know the offense and can continue to help it be a lethal unit.

Bringing back Pennel is the best move the Chiefs have made so far though, as his presence along the defensive line made a huge difference last season. His key hit on Jimmy G in the Super Bowl led to an interception and was a moment fans will look back to in the coming years.

The Chiefs still have holes to fill, but with free agency still underway and the draft coming up in less than a month, there’s plenty of time to get those holes filled.
