ROUND 2: PICK 31 (63RD OVERALL)

With their second round pick, the Kansas City Chiefs go with Adam Trautman out of Dayton. The Chiefs need tight end depth behind Travis Kelce and Trautman would give them just that.

The Dayton tight end finished his 2019 campaign with 70 receptions for 916 yards and 14 touchdowns. While not a big name, Trautman is the all-time leading receiver at Dayton despite not having caught a single pass prior to his collegiate career (he played quarterback in high school) and would provide a nice project at the tight end position.

Trautman isn’t ready to be a starting tight end just yet, so the Chiefs should also have another tight end on the roster along with Kelce and Trautman, but the upside would be high here if he did pan out.

WHAT EXPERTS ARE SAYING:

"Adam Trautman is an enticing small school prospect who checks the needed boxes to instill confidence that he will face a successful transition to the NFL level. -Kyle Crabbs, The Draft Network"

ROUND 3: PICK 96

With their third round selection, the Chiefs decide to add depth to the offensive line, which was an emphasis in my last mock draft. In this mock, however, they wait until round three before they add an offensive lineman and it comes in the form of Ben Bartch of St. John’s.

Despite the high prospect rating for Bartch, he’s not someone who the Chiefs will immediately be able to plug into their offensive line. He’s a Division III player, but really impressed at the Senior Bowl.

Bartch spent the 2018 and 2019 seasons at left tackle, which is currently manned by Eric Fisher, but that’s okay because he’ll need time to develop. Even then, hopefully the two year development window could be a time where he gets practice as a guard.

The Chiefs need to add depth along the offensive line and despite being an unknown name, Ben Bartch could be a nice project to have. Oh and he previously played tight end before moving to left tackle, proving that he has athleticism.

WHAT EXPERTS ARE SAYING:

"He’s an enticing left tackle prospect who continues to evolve, but a step up in competition and a need for continued physical development will require patience and could determine whether his final calling is swing tackle or starter. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
