In our fourth 2020 NFL Mock Draft, the KC Chiefs surprise some people by focusing on offense early on. They only have five picks and spend three of the first five on offensive players.

While many fans are fully expecting defense to be a major emphasis for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 NFL Draft, they can’t ignore the offensive side of the ball because that’s what they’re known for. As long as the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes at the quarterback spot, they’ll be an offensive juggernaut.

So, with that said, I made the theme of my fourth 2020 NFL Mock Draft revolve around the Chiefs spending their first three picks on offense. I used The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator to compile this edition and while it’s a little different than what fans would expect from a typical Chiefs mock draft, it’s an interesting theme to go off of.

Let’s get to it!

ROUND 1: PICK 32 (32ND OVERALL)

809. . Running Back. Badgers . Jonathan Taylor. 32. player

This is a selection that would provide mixed reactions from Chiefs Kingdom, but the main thing the Chiefs were missing on offense last season was a kick butt and take names running back. Damien Williams had his moments in the playoffs, but the run game wasn’t great throughout the course of the regular season.

Enter Jonathan Taylor out of the University of Wisconsin, who was an absolute beast on the gridiron during his tenure with the Badgers. The least amount of yards Taylor had in a single season was 1,977 yards and that was during his freshman year in 2017 where he scored 13 touchdowns.

Taylor finished his Wisconsin career with a total of 6,174 yards and 50 touchdowns. His sophomore year in 2018 saw him rush for a career high 2,194 yards and 16 touchdowns and this past season he totaled 2,003 yards and 26 total touchdowns (21 rushing, five receiving).

So, simply put, Taylor was a freak of nature and he’d put the Chiefs offense over the top. They need a legitimate threat at running back to give them that added element and Jonathan Taylor would do that.

WHAT EXPERTS ARE SAYING:

"Supremely productive, well-built runner with an all-day, every-day mentality that helped lead him to three Big Ten rushing titles. Taylor runs with bend and burst as an outside runner and has home-run speed once he gets into the open field. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"
