KC Chiefs: Ranking all 16 regular season games from 2019 season
RANKING 2019 REGULAR SEASON GAMES
NUMBER 6: WEEK 3 VS RAVENS (33-28 WIN)
The score made this game look like it was a lot closer, but it was pretty out of reach for Baltimore in the waning minutes. The reason this game made it to the sixth spot is because it pitted Patrick Mahomes – the 2018 MVP – against the eventual 2019 MVP in Lamar Jackson.
Jackson and the Ravens were off to as red hot of a start as a team could be to start the 2019 season. They demolished both of their opponents prior to facing Kansas City and it meant that it’d be two 2-0 squads squaring off against each other at Arrowhead Stadium.
Jackson didn’t play great, but he did work his magic late in the game to make things a little bit closer. For the most part though, this game had more hype going into it and didn’t necessarily live up to it. It was still fun to watch Mahomes go up against Jackson though and that’s why this game landed at number six on the list.
NUMBER 5: WEEK 17 VS CHARGERS (31-21 WIN)
I contemplated flipping this one with the Ravens game, but Chiefs fans will always remember this win over the Chargers for one simple reason. It wasn’t the game itself, but rather that as this game was taking place in a chilly Arrowhead Stadium, the Dolphins were doing Kansas City a solid by shocking the Patriots in Foxborough.
That, in turn, gave the KC Chiefs the two seed in the playoffs and they had the next week off. We saw how much that extra week off helped this team when it came down to it and we also saw the Patriots forced to play on Wild Card weekend for the first time in a decade.
The game against Los Angeles was also the final time the Chiefs would play against Philip Rivers when he was in a Chargers uniform. That part was bittersweet because the guy is annoying and cocky, but he also gave the Chiefs a lot of extra possessions and entertainment on the sidelines.
Still – This game cracked the top five because of the news of them earning the two-seed breaking near the end.
