RANKING 2019 REGULAR SEASON GAMES

NUMBER 8: WEEK 12 VS CHARGERS (19-17 WIN)

This is one of the lower ranked closer games on this list and that’s because Mahomes didn’t play all that well in this match-up. That’s indicated by the Chiefs only scoring 19 points and were it not for four interceptions from Philip Rivers (we’re going to miss having him in the division), Kansas City might not have pulled this win off.

At this point in the season, the Chiefs weren’t in the best place. They were coming off their worst loss of the season, which was a 35-32 embarrassing loss to Tennessee, and had to head to Mexico City to face the Chargers on Monday Night Football one week later.

Despite LA keeping pressure on Mahomes, the Chiefs’ defense stepped up in this one and we can truly point to this game when discussing the turnaround for the 2019 defense. They won this game for the Chiefs and this win began what turned out to be a nine-game win streak to end the season.

NUMBER 7: WEEK 15 VS BRONCOS (23-3 WIN)

This game was a blowout, but a lot of Chiefs Kingdom will remember this match-up fondly because it took place in a blizzard. It was also the first time Chiefs fans got to see local talent Drew Lock make a start in the NFL, which unfortunately came on the other side of the field, as he suited up for the Denver Broncos.

Luckily, the Chiefs defense was in Super Bowl form by this point and made Lock look like a rookie. He and the Broncos couldn’t get much going at all and while the snow probably didn’t help, the Broncos are in Denver, so that’s not a good enough excuse for them.

While this win didn’t exactly have us on the edge of our seats, watching those red Chiefs jerseys fly all over the field in a blizzard was memorable. That’s why it sits in this spot for the 2019 season.
