RANKING 2019 REGULAR SEASON GAMES

NUMBER 10: WEEK 16 VS BEARS (26-3 WIN)

When the 2019 season schedule was announced, the Chiefs’ week 16 road game against Chicago was a primetime affair, being the third Sunday Night Football game on KC’s schedule for the season.

It wasn’t shocking, as Bears head coach Matt Nagy had served as the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs and there was the whole Mahomes/Trubisky 2017 draft connection as well, which we only heard about 1,000 times during the game.

The Chiefs were riding a four-game win streak coming into this one and the Bears really didn’t have much to play for by this point in the season. Mahomes rushed into the end zone at one point and counted on his fingers how many picks were between him and Bears quarterback Trubisky in the 2017 draft. That’s about all people will truly remember from this one.

Similar to the win over the Raiders, the battle against the Bears never seemed in doubt from the start. The Chiefs were far and away the better team in this one and it showed.

NUMBER 9: WEEK 1 VS JAGUARS (40-26 WIN)

By now you’re probably noticing a trend and it’s that blowouts aren’t ranking high on the list. Yes, they take stress off of us while we’re watching, but years down the road, fans are usually talking about the close games. That’s where legends are born after all.

In the season opener, the Chiefs headed down to sunny Florida for a date with the Jaguars and at first, things didn’t look great. Jacksonville was moving down the field with ease against the Chiefs, but as we saw time and time again throughout the season, the offense heated up and never looked back.

Mahomes looked well on his way to another MVP season and the offense picked right back up from where they left off in the previous season’s AFC title game. There were some key injuries that occurred in this one, but even with those happening, the game was never really as close as the score would indicate – At least not in the second half.

Oh, this was also the NFL debut for one Gardner Minshew, which is probably the only thing people will remember about this game years down the road.
