Bold Prediction No. 7: A Royals Rookie Finishes Top-3 in Voting for Rookie of the Year

No, the Kansas City Royals don’t have the top farm system in the majors, but what they do have is an abundance of pitching that’s seemingly right around the corner. One could also find in the organization several speedsters who could only be an injury away from being called up to The Show.

How quickly will any of these prospects reach Kansas City? It depends on a couple of things, the most obvious being service time. Which, I’ll admit, makes sense.

Why would the Royals, or any team in the Royals situation (still rebuilding), waste a year of control to call up a promising youngster to play in a meaningless March and April? That doesn’t make sense.

Still, the Royals would benefit from getting the likes of pitchers Brady Singer, Jackson Kowar, Kris Bubic, and/or Daniel Lynch to the Major Leagues to see what they’ve got. As far as batters, if there’s an injury in the outfield, give Kyle Isbel a shot. Dude’s exciting as hell.

Take one of those five names, put them in a hat, and then pull out a name. Whoever that is, he’s going to give the likes of Toronto’s Nate Pearson and Tampa Bay’s Brendan McKay a run for American League Rookie of the Year.
