KC Chiefs news revolves around Sammy Watkins taking to Twitter to ask his followers where his next “adventure” is going to be. Wait, what?

One of the biggest talking points this offseason for the Kansas City Chiefs is going to be what the team decides to do with Sammy Watkins, who is due $21 million in 2020 if the Chiefs opt to keep him for the third and final year of his initial contract signed back in 2018.

There are a few different ways to go here: The Chiefs can bring Watkins back and pay him $21 million, they can cut him and save $14 million, or they can try restructuring his deal. The latter seems unlikely since players typically don’t do that (and I don’t blame them).

Watkins hasn’t necessarily lived up to what he was paid – at least not in the regular season – and cutting bait appears to be the smart move here for Brett Veach and the Chiefs.

Perhaps Watkins knows something that fans don’t already, as he took to Twitter on Tuesday to ask where his next adventure would take place. People started replying to the tweet and at one point, Texans fans started getting in on the action, to which Watkins continued to stir up drama.

"The pros involve having a W2 behind Tyreek Hill and that the Chiefs might not really have many other options outside of Hill and Mecole Hardman. The cons are that he’s expensive, injury prone, and did nearly all of his damage with the Chiefs in the playoffs and was ineffective throughout the course of the regular season."

"The move was made to allow for the possibility the Chiefs would serve as hosts for the NFL 2020 season opener on the Thursday evening at Arrowhead Stadium, adjacent to the Royals’ home ballpark, Kauffman Stadium."

Watkins hasn’t been worth the money he’s made since coming to Kansas City and is either injured or ineffective. The only reason the Chiefs would want to keep him around is because of the damage he did in the postseason, but the fact of the matter is that Watkins is 26 years old and the Chiefs are his third NFL team.

There’s a reason for that too. Let him tweet about his next adventure if that’s what he’d like to do, but it just seems more and more likely that Watkins won’t be back in Kansas City in 2020.
