Royals Rumors: Yankees could be interested in trading for Danny Duffy
By Cody Rickman
Currently I would set the odds of a Danny Duffy trade to the New York Yankees before the end of spring training at pretty low.
The Yankees are going to allow their in-house pitchers every chance to win the two vacancies in the rotation. Jordan Montgomery, Jonathan Loaisiga, Deivi Garcia, Luis Cessa, Mike King, Chad Bettis, and Nick Tropeano are each in competition for the two rotation spots with King and Garcia looking good early.
If the Yankees continue to have health issues with their starting rotation during the season, they may look to the Royals for a move at the trade deadline. It will be important for Duffy to be consistent out of the gate for the Royals to show he is still capable of being a mid-rotation starter.
It is more likely that we get more Royals rumors surrounding Duffy’s services around the halfway point of the season with a team like the Los Angeles Angels an example of a team looking to trade for the Duffman. The Angels have made a lot of progress in improving their farm system the past few drafts and could be a more favorable trade partner with the Royals.
It’d be sad to see Danny Duffy wearing another uniform, but don’t be surprised if he’s grouped into trade rumors throughout the 2020 season.
