KC Royals news consists of the spring training happenings with one of the main storylines being how well Brady Singer is looking one week in.

It’s still way too early to tell, but the Kansas City Royals might have struck gold at pick 18 in the 2018 MLB Draft, as Brady Singer is looking like he can make the Opening Day rotation as the potential five starter.

Singer pitched for the Florida Gators and helped them win a College World Series title in 2017 while also making it to Omaha in 2018 as well. He was taken by the Royals in June of 2018 and fans got to watch both him and Jackson Kowar (also a Royals draft pick that year) pitch for the Gators in the College World Series.

Singer was unable to pitch in the minors in 2018, but he made a name for himself in the minor leagues in 2019, throwing 148.1 innings between both A-Wilmington and AA-Northwest Arkansas where he had an ERA of 2.85 between the two leagues.

So far in spring training, Springer has looked crisp. He’s tossed three innings and has allowed just three hits while striking out four batters. The Royals still have plenty of games left in spring training, but it’s hard not to be excited about what Brady Singer could provide.

"Singer has done exactly what Moore hoped for when he drafted him with the 18th overall pick in 2018. The Royals wanted to speed up their rebuild time by going with the college pitcher route. And unlike previous draft classes, it appears they’ve hit on more than just one of them."

It’s awesome to see that the Kansas City Royals might have hit the jackpot with Brady Singer, but let’s see if he continues to impress in spring training. He’s very young and the Royals could benefit from keeping him in the minor leagues for a little while longer, but right now, it’s very reasonable why Royals fans would be excited about Singer.

Hopefully he and the other four collegiate pitchers taken in that 2018 draft turn into something special and the Royals can ride that wave for as long as possible.
