ROUND 4: PICK 32 (128TH OVERALL)

128. player. 848. . Linebacker. Boilermakers . Markus Bailey

When looking at Markus Bailey‘s numbers during his five-year career at Purdue, one might wonder why he’d fall to the fourth round. Well, Bailey happened to have two season ending knee injuries during his tenure with the Boilermakers, which is concerning, but he’s a middle round talent that if the Chiefs can get at a decent spot on Day 3, is worth adding.

Bailey’s best season came in 2018 when he had 118 total tackles and six and a half sacks in 13 games. One of the two knee injuries he suffered was this past season, which is going to hurt his draft stock and that could be why he’s still available at this point in the draft.

While Markus Bailey could be a risky pick, we’ve seen prospects coming off of injury slip in the draft and go on to impress for the teams who take a chance on them. Perhaps Bailey could eventually fall into that category.

WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING:

"He needs to process blocking schemes faster and take more chances, as his athletic limitations will show up more frequently against NFL competition. Knee injuries in 2015 and 2019 might hurt his draft standing a little bit, but he has middle-round talent as a quality three-down backup. -Lance Zierlein, NFL.com"

ROUND 5: PICK 31 (159TH OVERALL)

. IDL. Bears . Bravvion Roy. 159. player. 860

At 6’1″ and 333 pounds, Bravvion Roy is a monster along the interior line and while he’d more than likely be a project for the Chiefs, he could be someone they lean on down the road. The Baylor defensive lineman totaled 61 tackles (13 for loss) to go along with five and a half sacks during the 2019 season.

Roy spent his years at Baylor as their nose tackle and the Chiefs already have a pretty good one of those in Derrick Nnadi. Nnadi is just two years into his pro career and is under contract for another two years, but perhaps Roy could become a swing option along the line or could eventually replace Nnadi should the Chiefs go a different direction when his contract is up.

There isn’t a ton of information on Bravvion Roy early in the draft season, which is why there is no “expert” quote on him. Hopefully the lack of information on Roy changes after the combine. He’s a massive football player and could be someone the Chiefs might put to good use.
