Even though the season is over, the grind never stops in the NFL, not even for the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. With the Lombardi trophy safely in Kansas City, there is always room for offseason improvements.

The Kansas City Chiefs don’t want to stop at just one Super Bowl, they want a dynasty. This makes offseason improvements through the draft and free agency still very crucial even if they are the best team in the world currently.

Although free agency will begin before the draft, it is a little harder to predict this early in the offseason, so for now, we will focus on the draft. The Chiefs have just five picks in this year’s draft and are not expected to receive any compensatory picks meaning that some draft-day trades are likely. However, here we will stick to prospects that could be targeted at our current draft positions.

Kansas City’s team needs currently (in no particular order) are cornerback, linebacker, interior offensive line, and running back. Again, free agency will start before the draft, so this list is likely to change throughout the offseason. My personal preference, for example, would be to add a cheap veteran running back through free agency rather than waste draft capital on one.

Depending on what GM Brett Veach does in free agency, other positions such as EDGE, interior defensive line, and wide receiver are positions that could be added to the list of needs if some of the current needs are filled.

Cornerback is a position that could see drastic change throughout the offseason as the Chiefs only have Charvarius Ward and Rashad Fenton under contract for the coming season at the cornerback position. This position could range anywhere from a HUGE need requiring multiple picks to a later round need depending on which free agents the Chiefs retain or let walk.

Even this early in the offseason, with a lot of changes and uncertainty on the horizon, it is still useful to start looking ahead at potential prospects to target in the draft. So without further ado, let’s get into it: Our first 2020 draft big board for the SUPER BOWL CHAMPION Kansas City Chiefs.
