DARRON LEE

Another former first round pick, Darron Lee was a bust in a Chiefs uniform. KC traded for him last May in exchange for their sixth round pick hoping that Lee could come in and help out against the run and get after the quarterback.

Well – Lee went on to greatly disappoint, starting just two games as a Chief. He did appear in all 16 regular season games, but once Terrell Suggs was brought in, Lee’s role was diminished. He was inactive all throughout the playoffs and is an easy option not to bring back in 2020.

XAVIER WILLIAMS

Xavier Williams didn’t do much with the Chiefs in 2019. He appeared in just five regular season games and recorded eight tackles. Williams also played in the Divisional Round and title game, but was present for less than 30% of the snaps in both games.

Bringing Williams in last year made sense considering he was a local guy and provided depth on the defense, but when push came to shove, he wasn’t a big impact player on the defense. Moving on from him won’t be a tough decision.

TERRELL SUGGS

This is an easy one. It’s not as though Terrell Suggs didn’t make a big impact for this defense en route to the Super Bowl victory, but Suggs is 37 years old and his better days of football are behind him. There’s no need to sign Suggs to a deal for 2020.
