BASHAUD BREELAND OR KENDALL FULLER

It’s highly unlikely that the Chiefs can afford to bring back both Bashaud Breeland and Kendall Fuller – both of whom had interceptions in the Super Bowl – but they should at least try to re-sign one of them.

Breeland has played on one-year contracts the last two seasons, so it’s doubtful that he’ll agree to do so again in 2020. He also proved pivotal in the Chiefs’ secondary and should be able to command a multiyear contract, which will probably be out of the Chiefs’ price range.

As for Fuller, the Chiefs acquired him when they sent Alex Smith to Washington and it looked like he’d be the CB2 across from Marcus Peters. Well, not long after, Peters was shipped off to Los Angeles and Fuller was thrown into the CB1 role.

To be perfectly honest, Fuller wasn’t great, but once he returned from injury this season, Steve Spagnuolo got creative with him and used him in different roles. That’d be why I’d advocate for Fuller to be brought back; He can be utilized in different ways.

The problem here is that Fuller turns 25 next week; He’s a young talented defensive back and teams are going to offer him a nice chunk of change to come play in their secondary.

Breeland just turned 28 and like I said – has been playing on one-year deals lately. It’s doubtful either of these guys return to Kansas City, but the Chiefs should try to retain at least one of them.
