LOSER: PENALTIES

One of the biggest killers in the week ten loss to the Titans were the penalties sustained by the Chiefs throughout the game. They had nine in that game and also recorded nine penalties in this game too. It wasn’t looking good early on because of all of the penalties, but the Chiefs overcame that in the second half.

Easily the most frustrating penalty was in the second quarter when the Titans failed to convert on third and 22. It should have been a field goal attempt coming by Tennessee, but instead, a hold by Bashaud Breeland gave the Titans a fresh set of downs and they went on to score five plays later.

While the Chiefs got it figured out as the game went along, they might not have the opportunity to fix their mistakes in the Super Bowl. Penalties have been a lingering problem for this team during the course of the season and they can’t be why this team loses in Miami in two weeks.

LOSER: RUN GAME

Earlier this week, I wrote an article about how it didn’t really matter if the Chiefs couldn’t run the ball because that’s not the team they are. That being said, it would be nice if the run game could help the offense out and be relied upon if need be.

For the second straight week, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs in rushing yards with 53 off of eight carries and found the end zone with his legs on an insane 27-yard touchdown run late in the second quarter. Damien Williams carried the ball 17 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, but his long was for just eight yards.

The 49ers are a team who run the ball constantly and that’s how the Titans were too. It’s not the Chiefs’ strength, but that’s okay. They’re listed as losers though because they could have been so much better on Sunday.
