For the first time in 50 years, the KC Chiefs are heading to the Super Bowl! Typing that sentence still gives me goosebumps. With the Lamar Hunt Trophy back where it belongs, let’s take a look at the winners and losers this week.

For the first time in a large majority of Kansas City Chiefs fans’ lives, their squad is going to be playing in the Super Bowl in less than two weeks. This season has felt special and it really might be this team’s year when it comes to hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at season’s end.

Before we truly dive into Super Bowl talk, let’s take a look at the winners and the losers from the Chiefs’ 35-24 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

WINNER: SAMMY WATKINS

After their win in the Divisional Round against the Texans, I wrote an article about how Sammy Watkins has been a different player for the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason. He hasn’t been great during the regular season, but he’s been on fire in the playoffs and Sunday’s game proved just that.

Watkins finished the day with seven grabs for 114 yards and a touchdown, further displaying his abilities to up the ante in big moments. Fans might have been frustrated at Watkins’ lack of playmaking skills in the regular season, but for whatever reason, the guy shows up in the playoffs.

I can get over a bad contract if it means Watkins goes off in the Super Bowl and helps lead the Chiefs to the promise land.
