Five reasons Kansas City Chiefs will beat Titans in AFC Championship

More touchdowns, fewer mistakes
The game against the Titans in Week 10 was a delicate game of sorts. The Chiefs were trying to figure out what Mahomes could do returning from the knee injury in an actual game situation. This could have very well made the Chiefs’ offensive coaches less aggressive with their play calling. While Mahomes did throw for three touchdowns, the Chiefs could have been even more aggressive instead of attempting field goals.
Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker ended the day by making four out of his five field-goal attempts. Some of these attempts could have possibly been turned into first downs, therefore allowing the Chiefs to continue pursuing touchdowns.
The Chiefs also had two very costly mistakes that certainly swayed the outcome of the game. The first was a fumble by running back Damien Williams, which was picked up by a Titans defender and ran in for a touchdown.
The second was a miscommunication on the snap of a field goal attempt, which oddly resulted in an intentional grounding penalty. That penalty, in turn, gave Tennessee a short field offensively, which they turned into another touchdown.
And finally, the Titans were able to block Butker’s last-second field goal attempt to seal the victory. With a much more healthy team and seeing Mahomes return to MVP form, the Chiefs will be a lot more aggressive this time around.
It’s no secret that this is a good Tennessee Titans defense. The Chiefs will have to come out firing, put a lot of points on the board, and not let up the rest of the game.
If Kansas City can play disciplined football, the costly mistakes from the first game won’t be repeated, therefore keeping the game in the Chiefs’ favor. Staying aggressive towards touchdowns instead of settling for field goals will be a big difference in this game.
