Could a 2020 Kansas City Chiefs rookie be playing in the National Championship Game? Here are a few names that could fit that narrative.

The Kansas City Chiefs, at current, only have five draft picks and will have numerous holes to fill at the conclusion of what Chiefs fans hope will be a Super Bowl run.

On display on Monday night are the two best teams in college football and with that come numerous prospects the Chiefs could look at as options to fill the aforementioned holes in their 2020 roster and continue to compete for years to come.

The Chiefs will need to add a pass catcher early in 2020 draft with likely departures of Watkins and Robinson. Who should fans be watching for?

The Chiefs depth chart at wide receiver gets real thin this offseason with the likely release of Sammy Watkins and the looming free agency of Demarcus Robinson. With Tyreek Hill having his own contract issue that will need to be addressed after the 2020 season, the Chiefs receiver position is a spot that needs help. Early and from a distance, this is a great draft to find a receiver.

The Chiefs win on offense and through the passing game. That means the Chiefs are not in a position to allow their passing game to possibly falter. To win, you must be good where you win; Running the ball is not how the Chiefs want to win games. They must keep the receiver group strong. What are the names to watch as a Chiefs fan?

  • Tee Higgins, Clemson. One of the top pass catchers for a Clemson team, Higgins is one of my favorite draft prospects for the Chiefs. Tall at 6’4″, the Tiger receiver for his career has averaged 18.2 yards per reception on in his 132 career catches. A player that can get deep with size, he would be the ideal pairing to the speedy duo of Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill.
  • Justin Jefferson, LSU Another name to keep an eye on is this LSU product. While not as dangerous as Higgins and he certainly doesn’t have the size, Jefferson has had his fair share of highlights and production this season. He could be a solid, long-term chain moving receiver with great numbers playing with Patrick Mahomes and the other weapons on the offense.
