LOSER: PATRICK MAHOMES

It’s never popular to list Patrick Mahomes as a loser, but he wasn’t good in this game, completing just 16 passes out of 25 attempts for 174 yards. He threw one touchdown and was picked off once, but there were two other times he could have easily been picked as well.

Mahomes had been looking sharp down the stretch and all that really mattered in this game was that he not get hurt, so surely that was kept in mind with the play calling.

I trust Mahomes to be his normal self in the playoffs, so this isn’t a big deal.

LOSER: THIRD DOWN DEFENSE

The Chargers went eight of 15 on third down attempts and they were just barreling over the Chiefs defense in the second half. The KC defense has been top notch throughout the last two months of the season, but they struggled to get off the field on third down. That could be something to watch in the postseason for sure.

LOSER: PATRIOTS

L O L

After the Dolphins looked like a team that could potentially go 0-16 to start the year, I don’t think any of us would have expected them to help out our Chiefs when push came to shove. That same lousy Dolphins team went into Foxboro though and took down the Patriots in the final minute of the game.

The loss by New England gifted Kansas City the two seed and a first round bye, and now forces the Pats to play on Wild Card weekend, something they haven’t done in nearly a decade. What a weekend.
