The KC Chiefs’ regular season has come to a close and they end the year at 12-4 and snuck their way into a first round bye (much love, Miami). Who were the winners and losers in the win over the Chargers?

Well, it wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but the Kansas City Chiefs got it done and left their seeding up to fate. KC had to win and have the Patriots lose to the 4-11 Miami Dolphins in order to get a first round bye. Otherwise, it was looking like the three seed was imminent and a date with the pesky Titans would be on the agenda.

But instead, it’ll be a week off for our fearless Chiefs, as the Patriots will host a Wild Card game for the first time since 2010. It’s almost been an entire decade since New England has hosted a Wild Card game, so this will feel new to them.

All right, without further ado, let’s dive into the winners and losers from this game, starting with one of the biggest winners.

WINNER: DAMIEN WILLIAMS

After such an up and down season in the run game, Damien Williams heard the complaints and upped the ante. He finished the regular season finale with 12 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns, but it is worth noting that 84 of those yards came on one run, which led to a touchdown.

Hey, the Chiefs will need a performance like that from Williams and the rest of their running backs in the playoffs, so perhaps that’s the beginning of what’s to come from this rushing attack moving forward.
