The Kansas City Chiefs’ 2019 regular season has come to an end and while there are still postseason games to be played, the 2020 opponents are set.

In 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs will look to build on what they’ve already accomplished. Will they be doing so as the reigning Super Bowl champions? Perhaps, but we won’t know the answer to that question for another month.

We do, however, know the teams that Kansas City will be playing in the 2020 season. They’ll obviously play their divisional foes twice, both at home and on the road, while also facing the the AFC East, the winner of the AFC North, and the winner of the AFC South. It’s also the Chiefs’ turn to face the NFC South.

Here are the teams the Chiefs will play at home in 2020:

  • Broncos
  • Chargers
  • Raiders
  • Jets (AFC East)
  • Patriots (AFC East)
  • Texans (Winner of AFC South)
  • Falcons (NFC South)
  • Panthers (NFC South)

The KC Chiefs will FINALLY get to host the New England Patriots at home during the regular season, something that hasn’t happened since 2014 when they completely dismantled the Pats on Monday Night Football. One would have to think that game would be played in primetime of some kind, whether it’s on Sunday night or Monday night.

Here are the teams the Chiefs will play on the road in 2020:

  • Broncos
  • Chargers
  • Raiders
  • Bills (AFC East)
  • Dolphins (AFC East)
  • Ravens (Winner of AFC North)
  • Buccaneers
  • Saints

The road games will be challenging for the Chiefs in 2020, as they’ll have their usual crop of AFC West match-ups, but also have to go to Baltimore and New Orleans. It wouldn’t be shocking if both of those games were in the spotlight, but don’t underestimate the spiciness of that Chiefs/Bucs game.

The Chiefs went 3-1 against the NFC South when they played that division in 2016, with their one loss coming against Tampa Bay. A lot has changed in that division since then, however, as the Saints are one of the best teams in the league and will get this game in the Super Dome. That would be a really fun night game if the NFL chooses to put that one in primetime.

Right now, the 2020 opponents look to be challenging, but we won’t truly know what to make of this schedule until we see the actual dates and times chosen for each game. We have our own opinions on which games would be fun to have in primetime, but what will the schedule makers decide? We won’t know the answer to that until April.

What opponents stand out to you?
