Kansas City Royals: Ranking every season from 2010s
RANKING EVERY ROYALS SEASON FROM 2010-2019
NUMBER 1: 2015
- Record: 95-67
At last, we’ve come to the best season not only of the decade but potentially of all-time. For those of us who weren’t born when the Kansas City Royals won it all in 1985, the 2015 season was one we’ll all remember for the rest of our lives because it’s the only time we saw this team win it all.
After coming oh so close to winning it all in 2014, the Royals were on a mission in 2015. They started the year by winning their first seven games and never got close to dipping under .500.
One of the more under-the-radar moments from 2015 was when the All-Star voting was taking place and the fans flocked to the polls to get their guys in. Kansas City ended up having seven players represent them in the All-Star Game and it got so out of hand that Omar Infante was leading the second baseman race at one point.
In 2015, a lot of opposing teams had had enough of the Kansas City Royals and continuously tried to pick fights with them. We saw Brett Lawrie start crap and Kelvin Herrera tried to take his head off with a fastball. We also saw the Blue Jays and White Sox both start stuff as well, both of which resulted in bench-clearing brawls.
The Royals ended up winning the AL Central for the first time ever and it was their first division title since they last had won the World Series in 1985. It was looking like they might be an early out in the postseason, but the Royals battled back in fashion in Game 4 of the ALDS with an eighth inning that you’d have to see to believe.
In the ALCS, the Royals took down the Blue Jays in six games to advance to their second straight World Series, this time winning it all. Wade Davis coming back out after the hour-long rain delay was epic and even though it looked grim, he shut it down to get KC to the title game once again.
From Hosmer’s stealing of home plate to Gordon’s game-tying home run to Alcides Escobar’s inside the park home run to the bullpen shutting down anyone who tried to take the lead to Johnny Cueto‘s complete game to that moment when the Royals took home the crown, 2015 is a season that Royals fans will remember for the rest of their life.
As mentioned earlier, this wasn’t just the best season of the decade, but it was the best of all-time for so many of us.

The 2010s were good to the Royals. Yes, they had two 100 loss seasons, but it’s hard to be too angry about that when the team went to two World Series and won one of them. They had four winning seasons and one .500 season during the 2010s, and if you asked fans in 2009 if they’d sign up for that, they’d have done so in a heartbeat.
Hopefully, another World Series appearance will occur in the 2020s, but for now, let’s continue to remember the awesome times we had in the 2010s.
