WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE BRONCOS?

While the Broncos stunk it up against the Chiefs last week and guaranteed themselves a third straight losing season, Bronco fans do have a reason to be excited moving forward. Drew Lock has played like a rookie, but he’s 3-1 as a starter and gives that fan base a reason to believe maybe they found their guy.

The Broncos defeated the lowly Lions 27-17 at Mile High Stadium to move to 6-9 on the year. If the team could finish at 7-9 after how badly their season began, then that’s a good ending for Vic Fangio in his first year on the job.

The offensive line has improved, as Lock wasn’t sacked at all, but his numbers weren’t earth shattering by any means (25/33 for 192 yards and a touchdown), but he got the job done. Lock didn’t need to have a big game because Phillip Lindsay did, rushing 19 times for 109 yards and a touchdown.

The defense sacked David Blough four times (Dre’Mont Jones had two of the four sacks) and held the Lions third string quarterback to 117 yards and a touchdown through the air. The run game was held to under 100 yards and no receiver had more than 70 yards (Kenny Golladay had 66 yards off six catches and Blough’s only touchdown pass).

The Broncos close out their 2019 season by hosting the Raiders next week. Can they finish at 7-9 on the year?
