CHIEFS DEFENSE VS BEARS OFFENSE

Speaking of Matt Nagy, it’s his job to make sure his offense gets points on the board and they’ll have to do this week against a resurgent Chiefs defense.

This time last year, we were all frustrated with the lack of defense played by our Chiefs, but they’ve been great recently. They held the Broncos to three points last week, limited the Patriots to 16 points, and had shut the Raiders out until the final quarter a few weeks ago.

The Bears offense hasn’t been good this year, sitting 28th in the league in yards per game and 26th in points per game. The Chiefs are still in the bottom half of the league when it comes to total defense, but they’re actually ranked higher than the Bears defense against the pass and have improved considerably against the rush.

The point being that this will be an intriguing match-up. Can the Bears offense move the ball against a rejuvenated Chiefs D or will it be the same ol’ same ol’ for Chicago’s offense?

WHICH RUN GAME PREVAILS?

It’s surprising, but neither of these teams has had a strong run game this season, both sitting in the bottom ten when it comes to rushing yards per game.

The Bears opted to trade Jordan Howard because they felt confident in Tarik Cohen and rookie David Montgomery to move the ball on the ground. Well, that proved costly, as the Bears sit fourth to last in rushing yards per game.

The Chiefs aren’t much better and they’ve had quite the turnstile at running back. Damien Williams is usually the RB1, but injuries have kept him off the field this year. That led to LeSean McCoy getting a bulk of the carries, but his fumbling issues stripped him of more carries. McCoy, Spencer Ware, and rookie Darwin Thompson are the ones pounding the rock now and to this point, it’s been a disappointing effort by the trio.

With both rushing attacks being so non-existent, something has to give in this game, right? The Bears are very good against the run while the Chiefs… not so much. That could lead to Chicago getting their ground game going on Sunday night.
