WHAT DID WE LEARN ABOUT THE CHIEFS?

Well, here we are, the only team in the AFC West to win this weekend, and obviously it’s the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs had already clinched the division a week ago, but still have playoff seedings to play for. They were able to hold onto their three spot by knocking off the Denver Broncos 23-3 in the snowy confines of Arrowhead Stadium.

Patrick Mahomes was back to looking like the reigning MVP, throwing for 340 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while getting sacked three times. His last few performances hadn’t been great, but Mahomes showed he’s still capable of being that dominant quarterback and he did so against a Broncos team that was on the rise.

Travis Kelce became the first tight end to record four straight 1,000 yard receiving seasons, which solidifies him as one of the all-time greats at the position. Oh and he’s only 30 years old too, meaning he’s got several years left in the tank and hopefully they’re with the Chiefs.

The Chiefs defense is looking really good recently, only allowing the “red hot” Denver Broncos offense to score a measly field goal in four quarters of action. They made Drew Lock look like a rookie and that’s what good defenses do to rookie quarterbacks.

The run defense at times appears to be a problem still, but Phillip Lindsay only had 32 yards rushing. The Broncos had to give up running the football eventually due to the large lead the Chiefs had early in the game.

Kansas City dominated from start to finish in this match-up, only punting the football twice and constantly finding their way into Broncos territory. I’m not sure if this team we’ve been treated to lately is planning on sticking around, but I sure hope so, because the team we saw on Sunday against the Broncos could win the Super Bowl.

They’ll have a chance to continue to prove themselves next week against the Bears on Sunday Night Football.
