MVP CANDIDATES

Number 2 – Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks

A brutal loss to the Rams in week 14 put a real damper on the Russell Wilson MVP-train and the Seahawks season. They are now a wild card team, falling from the one seed in the NFC. However, he is firmly ahead of Rodgers, as he’s carried much more of a load and has the same record.

The Case For

Wilson still has five game winning drives to his name. That is incredible in a season, let alone through week 14.  He is definitely a second-fiddle to Jackson, but he has a chance against the 49ers to save his season.

They also really need to keep winning for home field advantage in the playoffs and he will do his best, as he always has, to carry them back to a top-2 seed in the NFC. Meaning, he won’t take a snap off and may keep putting up career-year numbers.

The Case Against

As predicted, the close wins throughout the year were unsustainable for the Seahawks. It’s funny how one loss for a 10-win team can suddenly change the complete outlook of their season.

Are the Seahawks that good? They have a very impressive win over the 49ers, but the Vikings are their next best win. Time will tell whether or not this team can compete with the Saints, Packers, and 49ers, but Wilson may have to be perfect from here on out.

MVP Moment:

Week 5 vs. Rams - 17/23, 268 yards passing, 4 passing touchdowns, 8 carries for 32 yards, win.

“Did he just do that?” Play:

Typical Wilson scramble drill 13-yard pass to Tyler Lockett in the back of the endzone.
