Sit of the Week: Mark Andrews, TE,  Baltimore Ravens

This one is going to sting, folks. I know that Mark Andrews was a late round darling. I got him in the 13th round of my league.

On the year, he is the TE4, and benching him is almost impossible. If you have another quality option though, I suggest that maybe you take it because this has dud game written all over it for Andrews. Despite the Jets record, they actually field a very good defense. One thing they do is take the tight end away at an elite level.

The Jets are ranked 31st this season in points allowed to tight ends in fantasy. They allow just an average of five points to ALL tight ends per game. Safety Jamal Adams is one of the best in the business, and it stands to reason he may see quite a bit of the Ravens star tight end this week. There are other factors to consider here too, like the Ravens usage of other players on their team.

The Ravens have a plethora of tight ends they can use, as Mark Andrews, Nick Boyle, and Hayden Hurst all see the field for this squad. Opportunities in the passing game could be limited.

Combine that with the skills of Lamar Jackson, Hollywood Brown, and Mark Ingram, and the tight ends could be a non-factor this week. I know sitting Andrews is going to be tough due to the tight end position being thin, but risks don’t always just mean starting a player who isn’t a “star”.

It means sitting a star in a game where the match-up is just too bad to ignore.
