MICHAEL WARREN – CINCINNATI

Big back Michael Warren could fill a role for the Chiefs as a true every down type back for the offense.

It’s no secret that the Chiefs offense worked best when they had a big back, or an every down type running back that they lost when they released Kareem Hunt. In search of the next back, do the Chiefs cast their eyes on Cincinnati product Michael Warren?

His play style and what he does best is, for those old enough, a classic old school Denver Broncos type back; One cut type back and get up field player natural and comfortable pass catcher with decent balance and power.

He has some quickness and speed but won’t win by running away from defensive backs at the NFL level. At 5’11” and 220 pounds, Warren’s a big body back capable of playing and contributing on all downs.

While Warren has good size, vision and can cut and go up the field, it would be difficult to say anything positive about his wiggle. It’s really not there, and when he does ‘wiggle’ he has to almost stop running to do so, which worked some against Tulane or others, but won’t work against the Texans or Raiders.

Michael Warren can produce in the run game and could pair well with Darwin Thompson and Darrel Williams next season.
