ANTHONY MCFARLAND – MARYLAND

Maryland running back Anthony McFarland is an interesting option for the KC Chiefs.

Dynamic and quick, McFarland possesses a lot of the traits the Chiefs have looked at in recent drafts when looking offense. In specific, he’s fast and likely times well at the combine. Quick and strong, McFarland has the potential to contribute for whatever team selects him in the draft, the Chiefs or otherwise.

The biggest concern for McFarland is that while he’s fast straight up the field, his change of direction at times can be, well, it’s not always great and that’s a concern. Despite a willingness to take the ball up the field and into traffic as opposed to always trying to bounce the ball outside, he’s not overly powerful in a crowd.

However, there is no discounting that when he hits the open field, he’s gone. McFarland can catch the ball out of the backfield, is willing to block in the passing game and again, he can be gone and impossible to slow down.

It may be a season of development before he’s truly ready to contribute, and while he’s a good prospect and if you can get him in the middle to to back portions of the draft, there is value with Anthony McFarland for sure.
