CHUBA HUBBARD – OKLAHOMA STATE

The dynamic and versatile Chuba Hubbard out of Oklahoma State could fit the Kansas City Chiefs’ need at the running back position.

With the position set to be rebuilt this offseason, the Chiefs could look for a player with a similar play style and approach to the 2019 sixth round pick Darwin Thompson. Oklahoma State’s offense has been dynamic this season, thanks in large part to Hubbard, who is the big play back that powers the Cowboys offense.

In addition to being a home run threat in the Big 12, Hubbard has also run track for Oklahoma State. For an offense that appears built and constructed around down field speed, Hubbard may be the best back for the Chiefs in that regard in this draft.

During his two years in the Oklahoma State offense (redshirted as a freshman), Hubbard has recorded 43 career receptions despite playing behind current Raven running back Justice Hill last season. He had 21 touchdowns this season  to go along with 1,936 yards on the ground, so to say Hubbard was a dynamic playmaker for the Cowboys this season is an understatement.

Chuba Hubbard fits the bill for what the Chiefs look for in a running back,  but is Hubbard too similar to Thompson? He is a player I anticipate the Chiefs taking an interest to during the draft lead up process, assuming he declares.
